VACANCY: SENIOR ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIST

Position Type: Permanent Position (6 months’ probation): Johannesburg, Midrand

Offer: Minimum gross pa from R 500 000,00 (Negotiable and experience-based)

EXPERIENCE AND MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Registration with SACNASP and EAPASA is mandatory.
• Minimum M.Sc. in Environmental Science or equivalent science degree.
• Excellent background in Air Quality Management, aquatic- and terrestrial ecology & strategic Environmental/ Waste Management projects.
• Wetland specialist work would be advantageous.
• Ecological specialist work would be advantageous.
• Accreditation for SASS5 would be advantageous.
• More than 10 years\' of relevant experience in the industry. No candidates would be considered below 10 years of work experience.
• Proven track record/experience in the environmental consulting space.
• Understanding of the importance and use of document control and ISO systems.
• Driver’s license and ability to drive is mandatory.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Project management and compiling Environmental Impact Reports, Environmental Management Programmes (EMPr), Borrow-pit applications, undertaking S24G Rectification Application.
• Deliver Waste Management Projects -IWMP, Waste Classification, Waste License Application/Permit, Industrial Symbiosis.
• Undertake WUL applications, fieldwork, and develop technical reporting.
• Undertake strategic Environmental/ Waste Management projects i.e., EMF, Review of Environmental and waste by-laws, developing feasibility studies etc.
• Client liaison, authority, and stakeholder management.
• Assist in the compilation of wetland, aquatic and ecological specialist studies.
• Provide advice and resolve creatively any emerging problems/deficiencies.
• Oversee and mentor staff and liaise with a variety of stakeholders.
• To provide strategic planning for Sustainability, & Growth Model, pivoted towards Business Development and Bidding.
• Comply with guidelines and regulations including permits, safety, etc.;
